Tackling Environmental Crime

This is a summary of WNC's press release:

West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) has entered a new three-year partnership with Kingdom Local Authority Support to tackle littering, graffiti, and other environmental crimes across the entire region, extending beyond Northampton. This self-funded initiative, financed through fines, ensures cost-effectiveness while promoting cleaner and greener communities.

Kingdom Local Authority Support will issue fixed penalty notices (FPNs), enforce Public Space Protection Orders, and collaborate with WNC's neighbourhood wardens. The service focuses on the 4 E's: Engagement, Education, Encouragement, and Enforcement. Plans include school visits to educate about littering and installing poo bag stations in green spaces.

Deputy Leader Matt Golby emphasized the importance of addressing environmental crimes and deterring irresponsible behavior, while Kingdom's Chief Operating Officer, John Roberts, highlighted their shared commitment to improving public spaces for residents. Residents are encouraged to report offences via the WNC app or website.
