WNC Wellbeing Service
The WNC Wellbeing Service, formerly the Supporting Independence Programme, is reintroducing its free support services across the West of the county. The service aims to prevent or delay declines in independence by working with individuals one-on-one and connecting them with community resources to reduce reliance on health and social care services.
Key services include:
• "Walk and Talk" sessions to promote activity and socialization.
• Assistance in accessing local social opportunities and events.
• In-house Friendship Groups and OTAGO strength and balance classes.
• Support with housing, financial advice, and daily life needs.
• Low-level mental health support using behavior change strategies.
• Lifestyle advice on topics like nutrition, smoking, and alcohol use.
• Budgeting, meal planning, and goal-setting support.
• Help with memory, continence concerns, and appropriate referrals.
Referrals can be self-made or on behalf of others (with consent) via a short online form, with follow-up contact within two working days.
